Doctors

Dr Gora Bangi (m)

I qualified in the year 2000 following an initial career in Surgery, and then trained to become a GP.

I have subsequently been involved in leadership of the NHS at a local, regional and national level.

I set up Leyland surgery in 2013 and we now run three local surgeries. I am a trainer and academic adviser and I am responsible for training and mentoring numerous clinicians in various stages of their training.

I am dedicated to the development and progress of modern general practice and will advise and promote to a variety of national Bodies.

Outside of work, I like to keep fit and very much enjoy my sports, I have five children, who we have watched grow into mature adults each with their own careers and aspirations. My wife is a nurse at the local hospital and my daughter is a physician in Manchester.

Dr Christopher Scales (m)

MBChB. BSc (Hons). MRCGP

Having been born and bred in Kent, I moved north for university and graduated from Leeds medical school in 2003. But after meeting a Lancashire lass, I moved to the northwest, married and started a family and now have three beautiful children. I originally trained to be a surgeon specialising in orthopaedics and trauma but later realising I was happiest working in the community, changed my career to become a GP. This has given me a wealth of experience in both surgical and medical specialities and I have even spent time in Washington DC USA working for a trauma team. I continue to have an interest in surgery and have a regular minor operating list at the surgery. Outside of work I try and stay fit running but it’s mainly running after my three children.

Dr Hafsa Ayoub

MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG

I qualified as a doctor in 2013, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in General Practice.

I was born and bred in Bolton, and despite working in several regions of the country have returned to the Northwest to be near my family and friends.

My interests outside of work are baking, socialising, and travelling the world.

Dr Felix Chapman

After growing up in the South West, I came up north to Manchester for university, returning to my mum’s family roots in Altrincham. Graduated in 2019, started working for Royal Preston Hospital. I am working for the surgery as part of my training, and plan to continue with GP training going forward. Outside of work, I love travelling, and have been planning trips for after Covid restrictions are lifted.

Dr Hazel Shorrock

Born and bred in Leyland I have not ventured far during my time in Medicine. I qualified in 2019 from Manchester Medical School with an MBChB (hons) and since then have spent time working in Vascular Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics and A&E. I love the outdoors and I'm the team doctor for Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team. After my time in General Practise I hope to have a career in A&E and Mountain Medicine.
